Texas Lutheran Puts Up Five in Rout of LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas -- Texas Lutheran completed their eight match road trip (including two exhibitions) and two match road trip to start SCAC play on Sunday, rolling past LeTourneau (5-3-1, 0-2 SCAC) to improve to 4-3 on the year and 2-0 in the conference. The match up was the first between the two teams since 2017 and first time they matched up as conference foes since 2012 when both squads were members of the American Southwest Conference (ASC).

After applying pressure early with a barrage of shots, the Bulldogs got on the board in the 16th minute as Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill) scored her second goal of the weekend. The play developed was set up via an assist from Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) whose pass got Brame in the open field to get the scoring started for TLU.

Kristina Cromwell (Spring/Klein Collins) made it 2-0 in the 38th minute, sending a line drive past the YellowJackets keeper for her fourth goal of the season. Callie Brame was credited with the assist on the play - the first of two assists for the senior.

Brame added her second assist in the 61st minute as she returned the favor to Lilly Noblett, setting her up for her third goal of the season. With the assist, Brame notched her second career multi-assist match, becoming just the eighth Bulldog in program history to achieve that feat, while also surpassing Angie Valencia (16, 2001-04) to move into fifth all-time in program history with 17 career assists.

Following a YellowJackets red card, the Bulldogs put the finishing touches on the rout late in the match as Natalia Cortez (Edinburg/Robert Vela) scored her second goal of the season via an assist from Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) in the 71st before Ariana Gomez (San Antonio/Randolph) notched her first goal of the season in the 80th via an assist from Bella Ruiz (New Braunfels/Canyon).

Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) and Alexis Morrison (Cedar Park/Vista Ridge) both recorded minutes in the combined shutout, with Marquez working the first 62 minutes before being replaced by Morrison in the 62nd minute. Marquez recorded one save while Morrison recorded two in her closing shift. The duo were not tested often as Texas Lutheran outshot LeTourneau 27-9 with just three YellowJackets shots coming on target.

Texas Lutheran will return to Gustafson Field for the first time in over a month as they return home to host University of the Ozarks (AR) on Friday, October 3 at 5 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
