SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran rolled past University of the Ozarks 6-1 to improve to 5-3 on the season and 3-0 in SCAC play on Friday from Gustafson Field.
The Bulldogs outshot Ozarks (2-6-1, 0-2-0 SCAC) 21-6 in the match, including posting a 15-1 advantage in the first half.
For the second consecutive match,
Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill), this week's SCAC Offensive Player of the Week, tallied two assists in the match. Brame currently ranks amongst the nation's best in the category, ranking sixth in NCAA Division-III in assists per game. In just seven matches, Brame already has a top ten assist season in program history and moved into a tie for fourth all-time with Becca Harrell (19, 2005-08) with 19 career assists.
Caitlin Roach (Houston/Manvel) got the scoring started, scoring her first career goal in the seventh minute of the match.
The Bulldogs extended the lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute when
Natalia Cortez (Edinburg/Robert Vela) scored her third goal of the season. Just five minutes later,
Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) took a pass from Brame to raise the TLU lead to 3-0.
Ashlyn Suarez (Schertz/Clemens) closed the scoring in the first half, heading in a corner kick from Brame for the first leg of her first career brace on Friday.
Leading 4-0 at half, the Bulldogs allowed their lone goal in the 64th minute and responded almost immediately as
Klarissa Martinez put a penalty kick past the Ozarks keeper in the 69th minute.
The score held at 5-1 all the way to the 78th minute until Suarez headed in her second corner of the night, this time set up by
Ella Alvarado (Driftwood/Johnson), to bring the hame to its final score of 6-1.
The Bulldogs will remain at home on Sunday as they conclude their brief homestand against Hendrix College at 12 PM in Sunday's "Pink Out" match. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available onÂ
