ROME, GA -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball dropped a tough four-set match to No. 21 Berry, the Mount Berry Tournament host, 18-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-25, Friday night at Berry's Cage Center in Rome, Georgia.
Maselina Tuufuli (Saint Hedwig/Steele) and
Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) led Texas Lutheran with nine kills a piece, while
Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) and
Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep) both finished with eight kills. Salvatierra-Moore also added a team-high three blocks.
Addison Gallegos (Pleasanton/Jourdanton) had a career-high 23 assists and six digs while
Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) narrowly missed a double-double with 13 assists and nine digs.
Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) led the team with 21 digs while
Valeria Juarez (Weslaco/Weslaco East) added a career-high 14 digs. Ely matched her career-high with 15 digs of her own.
Berry used multiple 3-0 and 4-0 runs to pull away for a 25-18 win in the opening set on their home floor.
Four kills from
Ryann Ely and three blocks from
Briana Salvatierra-Moore spearheaded a response from the Bulldogs as they took the second set 25-22.
Berry would respond by cruising for the remainder of the match winning the next two sets by the score of 25-15.
