SPOKANE, WA -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball swept Whitman, 3-0, in its final match at the 2025 Whitworth Classic in Spokane, Washington.
Texas Lutheran was led by
Moriah Williams (San Antonio/Roosevelt), who was the lone Bulldog with double-digit kills on Saturday, leading the team with ten while adding three blocks.
Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep) continued her impressive start to the season with nine kills, hitting .615 for the match, and a team-high five blocks.
Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) recorded her second straight double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs.
Texas Lutheran finished the match hitting .231 and totaled 12 blocks, bringing their weekend total to 31, to Whitman's .067 hitting percentage.
The match would be tightly contested through the opening set with the two teams tied 16-all before Texas Lutheran gradually pulled away late to take the opening set, 25-22.
Texas Lutheran took the 2-0 lead after the TLU block combined for six blocks in the set with four coming from
Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet). The Bulldogs held the Blues to a .034 hitting percentage in the second to win, 25-20.
Moriah Williams took over in the final set, tallying six kills and a block in the final set as the Bulldogs completed the sweep with a 25-15 third set win.
The Bulldogs will face former SCAC rival #RV Southwestern to open the SU Invitational in Georgetown on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
