SPOKANE, WA -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball took down Carleton College in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21, Friday afternoon at Whitworth Fieldhouse in the 2025 season opener.
Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) finished with a team-high ten kills and a block.
Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) finished with nine kills, hitting .381 in the match, with a block.
Maselina Tuufuli (Saint Hedwig/Steele) had six kills, ten digs, and a service ace.
Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep) had a career-high ten blocks and finished with six kills and an ace. The ten kills are tied for the second most in a match in program history and the most in a single-match by a Bulldog since Madison Weisinger in October 2021.
Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) joined the block party with nine of her own and a kill.
Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) finished with a team-high 19 digs to go with nine assists.
Freshman
Addison Gallegos (Pleasanton/Jourdanton) dished out a team-high 14 assists and added 12 digs and three service aces for a double-double in her collegiate debut. Fellow freshman setter
Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) dished out 11 assists and added four digs.
Carleton took the first set 25-21, using a 5-0 run late in the set to pull away from the Bulldogs.
Texas Lutheran bounced back in the second set after trailing 21-18, TLU used a 7-2 run to close the set and tie the match with a 25-23 victory.
The Bulldogs cruised in the third set, 25-17, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Solis and Salvatierra-Moore combined for five total blocks in the set.
The fourth set was a battle with Texas Lutheran pulling it out 25-21 to close out the season-opening win.
