BROWNWOOD, Texas -- #RV Texas Lutheran women's basketball wrapped its opening weekend with a 72-52 wire-to-wire rout of Howard Payne Saturday evening in Brownwood. The win was highlighted by double-digit efforts from Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) and Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST).

Sotelo scored 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting and matched her career-high with four steals. Lauren Sansano went 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to finish with 14 points to go with three rebounds and three assists. Kayla Presley (Kyle/San Marcos) stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, four rebounds, two steals, and a block. Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) followed up her season-opening double-double with four points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Bulldog offense had an energetic start Saturday as they limited the Yellow Jackets to seven points in the first quarter and carried a 16-7 lead into the second quarter.

TLU stretched its lead to 13 entering halftime and led by 23 entering the fourth and cruised the rest of the way as the patented Bulldogs defense kept the Yellow Jackets at bay.

TLU would maintain a 49-35 advantage on the glass on Saturday.

Next up, Texas Lutheran begins their three-game west coast road trip as they travel to Thousand Oaks, California, to face Caltech on Nov. 14 in their first of three west coast matchups.
