HOUSTON, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball dropped the first leg of their final road trip of the 2025 regular season to St. Thomas, 3-1, on Wednesday at Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs (11-14, 8-7 SCAC) will have a quick turnaround and face Colorado College on Saturday at 11 AM CT. The loss to the Celts sets up a do-or-die situation for the Bulldogs on Saturday as they need a win over the Tigers to secure a bid to the 2025 SCAC Tournament. Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) led the Bulldogs with 11 kills, ten digs, and two aces for her third straight double-double.
Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) added eight kills and five blocks while
Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep) finished with eight kills and three blocks.
Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) had a team-high 29 digs with six assists while Houston native
Dallas Copelin (Houston/St. John XXIII College Preparatory) dished out a team-high 19 assists.
After an early hole, Texas Lutheran responded to take a 21-14 lead before St. Thomas stormed back to tie it 23-all before taking the set 25-23.
The second set was nip-and-tuck featuring six ties between the two teams. TLU led 16-10 before the Celts mounted another rally to take the second set 25-22.
The Bulldogs battled back to take the third set, 25-18, to avoid the sweep. Texas Lutheran tallied eight blocks in the set, led by four from
Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet).
The fourth set was back-and-forth almost all the way until the end with the set tied 17-all before the Celts closed it out.
