Volleyball Falls to Colorado College to End Season

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Texas Lutheran volleyball dropped their win or go home match against Colorado College in five-sets, 25-17, 25-19, 17-25, 19-25, 12-15, Saturday afternoon at Reid Arena in Colorado Springs.

With the loss, the Bulldogs were eliminated from SCAC Tournament contention and LeTourneau secured the sixth and final spot in the tournament.

Senior Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) led the Bulldogs with a career-high 21 kills in her final collegiate match. Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) added ten kills and three blocks while Briana Salvatierra-Moore (San Antonio/Antonian College Prep) finished with eight kills, four blocks, and two service aces.

Senior libero Richelle Guerra (Brownsville/Rivera) had a team-high 17 digs with six assists while Dallas Copelin (Houston/St. John XXIII College Preparatory) dished out 21 assists with ten digs for her second career double-double. Naomi Gamboa (San Antonio/Warren) dished out a career-high 26 assists to end her freshman season.

Texas Lutheran used an 11-4 run to pull away from Colorado College in the first set, limiting the Tigers to a .024 hitting percentage. Ely led the Bulldogs with six kills in the opening set.

The Bulldogs rolled to a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 win in the second set as Ely once again led the TLU offense with six kills.

Colorado College came alive in the third set and rolled to a 25-17 win to avoid the sweep, hitting .429 in the set compared to the Bulldogs .167.

The Tigers were dominant in the fourth set in front of a lively senior day crowd, hitting .481 to win the set 25-19 and send the match to a decisive fifth set.

With the Bulldogs season hanging in the balance, the Tigers were able to put the match away with a 15-12 win.

The Bulldogs finish the season with an 11-15 overall record. The Bulldogs  - a team picked to finish third in the preseason poll - conclude the 2025 season with an 11-15 record, going 8-8 in the SCAC to claim fourth place in their division in the regular season. 

The Bulldogs graduate three seniors - Ryann Ely, Richelle Guerra, and Maselina Tuufuli (St. Hedwig/Steele). We thank them for all of their contributions to the Texas Lutheran volleyball program.
