Texas Lutheran Caps Non-Conference Slate with Draw at UMHB

BELTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team (9-3-2, 6-0-1 SCAC) played to a 1-1 draw with Mary Hardin-Baylor at Cru Soccer Field in Belton on Tuesday night to conclude their 2025 non-conference schedule.

Sophomore Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) gave Texas Lutheran the 1-0 lead in the 12th minute following up the rebound on a Crusader save but the Cru would bring the game to level just six minutes later. The two teams battled to find the go-ahead score, combining for 26 shots on the night, but eventually settled for the draw.

Texas Lutheran dominated possession and fired 11 shots in the first half but only came away with the one goal. Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill) fired a shot at the UMHB keeper that would ricochet right to Fonseca to clean up for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

The Bulldogs had momentum going into halftime but the Crusaders responded. After being outplayed in the first half, the Crusaders won the possession battle in the second half and kept constant pressure on the Bulldogs but the TLU defense was able to leave Belton with a clean second half despite seven second half shots from the host Crusaders.

In the final box score, Texas Lutheran outshot UMHB, 15-11, as well as 12-8 in shots on goal. Each team earned three corner kicks. All three TLU keepers saw time on Tuesday with freshman Alexis Morrison (Cedar Park/Vista Ridge) leading the trio with a career-high four saves. Skylar LeBlanc (League City/Clear Falls), whose shift covered the middle third of the game, had one save while junior goalkeeper Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) earned the decision as the starter made two saves.

The draw snapped the Bulldogs four-match losing streak to the crew and brings the all-time series to 13-13-3.

TLU now looks ahead to their final home game of the 2025 slate on Friday, Oct. 24 when they host Centenary at 5 PM. Friday will act as Senior Day as the Bulldogs honor their eight-member senior class prior to the match. The match will be broadcast on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
