SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran scored four goals in the first ten minutes of the second half in addition to one in the first half to record a 5-0 shutout over Centenary Friday evening at Gustafson Field.
The shutout was the fourth clean sheet in their last five conference matches and seventh total this season for the Bulldogs, who improved to 10-3-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Centenary dropped to 1-12-3 and 0-6-2 in the SCAC.
With the win, Texas Lutheran clinched the first undefeated home season in program history, going 5-0-1 at Gustafson Field in 2025. The Bulldogs are 13-1-1 over the course of their last 15 home matches dating back to last season.
Texas Lutheran opened the scoring in the tenth minute as
Alyssa Ibanez (San Antonio/Judson) and
Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) set up
Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill) for her fourth goal of the season.
Despite 15 shots in the first half, the lead would stay at 1-0 after 45 minutes.
The TLU offense would wake up in the second half as the Bulldogs wasted no time scoring as
Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) made it 2-0 in the 47th minute, registering her seventh goal of the season on an assist from
Caitlin Roach (Houston/Manvel).
The Bulldogs turned in another goal in the 51st as
Ashlyn Suarez (Schertz/Clemens) skied a pass to
Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) who beat the Ladies keeper one-on-one for her seventh goal to run the tally to 3-0.
Natalia Cortez (Edinburg/Robert Vela) was able to poke the ball into the net following a Ladies save to extend the lead to 4-0 before
Klarissa Martinez put the finishing touches on the scoring with her sixth goal of the season as
Callie Brame returned the favor from the first half.
With the assist, Brame tied Christy Trevino (22, 2000-03) for TLU's all-time career assists record with
Klarissa Martinez's first half assist moving her into a tie for third with her 21st career assist. Brame also became the third player in program history to record double-digit assists in a single-season, joining Martinez (2024) and Katie Buehler (2007).
The Bulldogs used two goalkeepers in the shutout, as
