SEGUIN, Texas -- Senior Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) put in her fifth goal of the season in the 13th minute, but McMurry equalized in the 51st as Texas Lutheran (8-3-1, 5-0-1 SCAC) was forced to settle for one point following a 1-1 draw with McMurry (6-2-3, 5-0-2 SCAC) on Friday night in a battle between the top two teams in the SCAC at Gustafson Field.

A foul in the box on Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) drew a penalty kick for the Bulldogs that saw Martinez step up to make her third penalty kick of the season to make it 1-0 Bulldogs. For her career, Martinez is 6-for-6 on penalty kicks. 

The 1-0 advantage held through halftime and until a ball that seemed to be headed off frame found its way into the back of the net to equalize in the 51st.

Despite allowing one goal, Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) was clutch down the stretch tallying six saves while facing 16 McMurry shots.

The War Hawks out shot the Bulldogs 16-5 - just the fourth time this year that Texas Lutheran has lost the shot advantage.

The two teams combined for 17 fouls with McMurry earning the lone yellow card of the match.

Texas Lutheran will conclude the weekend with their penultimate home match of the 2025 season against Schreiner on Sunday Oct. 19 at 12 PM. The match will be streamed on FloCollege. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
