SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs posted their 10th win in their last 12 played in a 12-3 non-conference victory Tuesday night over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field,
Randy Huerta homered, went 3-for-4, and drove in three. Huerta, the Bulldogs' third baseman, hit a two-run home run to right field in the sixth and had an RBI single in the seventh.
The Bulldogs improved to 17-8 overall. UMHB fell to 13-14. TLU swept the home-and-home regular-season series with the Crusaders.
Caleb Maly was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, and
Tyler Post added two hits and three RBI.
Alex Cornman walked four times, and Motsinger was issued three walks.
Collin Docker also walked three times. UMHB pitching walked 14 Bulldogs.
Jonathan Hampton, a freshman right-hander in his first varsity appearance, picked up the victory with two scoreless innings to start the game. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
The Bulldogs used seven different pitchers for the mid-week game.
Blade Strzelczyk struck out the side in the ninth.
TLU returns to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action this weekend at Katt-Isbel Field. The Bulldogs host Southwestern University on Friday and Saturday.
TLU fans must be on the player pass list to be admitted to any game of the three-game series. Each TLU player is limited to four people on the pass list. No visiting team fans are allowed for TLU Baseball contests at Katt-Isbel Field.
