SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball completed a four-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series sweep of the University of Dallas with 2-0 and 6-3 wins Saturday at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium (Morck Softball Field).
TLU improved to 10-4 overall and to 6-1 in the SCAC. Dallas fell to 3-9 overall and to 0-4 in the SCAC.
In game one,
Kayla Oliveira (San Diego, Texas/San Diego) tossed a two-hit shutout. She struck out five and walked one to improve to 3-2 overall.
Dallas pitcher Paige Rasmussen also tossed a two-hit complete game. She allowed two runs and walked one.
Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland) went 2-for-3 for TLU. Martin scored a run and drove in a run.
Madisyn Cates (Baytown/Sterling) also had an RBI in the early game.
In the late game, TLU produced 12 hits.
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored.
Martin collected two more hits and scored two runs, and Cates drove in a pair.
Lauren Myers (Sweeny/Sweeny) picked up the win in relief. She tossed 2-2/3 innings and surrendered just one hit.
TLU's next doubleheader is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday against LeTourneau University at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium.
