SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball posted convincing 9-1 and 6-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories Friday over the University of Dallas.
TLU improved to 8-4 overall and to 5-1 in the SCAC.
Dallas fell to 3-7 overall and to 0-2 in the SCAC.
In game one, TLU scored its nine runs over the first two innings. The Bulldogs put five runs on the boards in the first and four more came across the plate in the second.
The game was called after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Skylar Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) had two RBI, and
Alyssa Cantu (Baytown/Sterling) also drove in a pair.
Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and
DeAnna Hernandez (Sugar Land/Dulles) had two hits, a run scored and an RBI.
Kelsie Stone (Helotes/O'Connor) tossed 3-1/3 innings in the five-inning contest and improved to 4-2. She stuck out three.
In game two, junior right-hander
Kayla Oliveira (San Diego, Texas/San Diego) took a no-hitter into the fifth. She surrendered a one-out, bloop single to center field in the fifth.
Oliviera (2-2) allowed just the one hit in 5-1/3 innings of work. She struck out six and walked one.
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) led off the second game with an inside-the-park home run.
Erica Garcia (Deer Park/Deer Park) crushed a two-run home run to left field in the third.
Garcia and Jurden each went 2-for-4.
Hernandez collected three hits and had a run scored, and
Bianca Cerda (Corona, Calif./Santiago) had a pair of hits and an RBI.
TLU and Dallas play another conference doubleheader Saturday. First pitch for game one is set for noon at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium (Morck Softball Field).
