IRVING, Texas -- Fifth-ranked Texas Lutheran's bid to sweep a conference road series from University of Dallas came up short Sunday in a 4-3 loss in 12 innings.
At the University of Dallas Baseball Field, the Crusaders picked up a walk-off win on a game-winning RBI single from Jessup Scott.
TLU's five-game win streak came to a halt. The Bulldogs are now 18-7 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Dallas ended its four-game losing streak and improved to 13-13 overall and to 2-7 in the SCAC. TLU posted 11-0 and 18-1 wins over Dallas on Saturday in Irving.
TLU took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh, but Scott tied the game in the frame with a two-out, two-run home run.
Neither team could score until the Crusaders pushed across the winning run in the 12th.
Thomas Varner (Austin/Bowie) and
Spencer Brandt (Yoakum/Yoakum) each had two hits for TLU. The Bulldogs were out-hit 11-6.
Jamie Wallace picked up the win in relief for Dallas and moved his record to 4-2.
Cody Rimko (Lewisville/Lewisville) took the loss and dropped to 2-2. Rimko went 4-1/3 innings, struck out three, did not walk a batter, and allowed four hits.
TLU struck out 11 times against Dallas pitchers on Sunday.
Next for TLU, the Bulldogs face non-conference foe Concordia Texas at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Concordia's Tornado Field.
