SHERMAN, Texas -- Eighth-ranked Texas Lutheran posted 14-0 and 11-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victories Friday evening over Austin College.
TLU improved to 19-5 overall and to 13-1 in the SCAC.
Austin dropped to 0-25 overall and to 0-14 in the SCAC.
In game one,
Casey Martin (Pearland/Pearland) and
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) each had three hits. Jurden scored three times and had two stolen bases. Martin scored twice and drove in two.
Bianca Cerda (Corona, Calif./Santiago) and
Erica Garcia (Deer Park/Deer Park) each drove in two runs.
TLU registered 17 hits in game one.
Kayla Oliveira (San Diego, Texas/San Diego) improved to 7-2 overall with the pitching victory. Oliveira went four innings and struck out eight. She did not walk a batter and surrendered just two hits.
In game two, freshman right-hander
Chassety Raines (Spring/Klein Collins) took a perfect game into the fourth. Raines gave up a two-out single in the fourth and finished with a one-hit shutout.
Raines struck out one and did not walk a batter to improve to 3-0.
Haley Padilla (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) and Martin each drove in two runs.
Bethany Nevlud (Shiner/Shiner) went 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Amanda Morgan (Irvine, Calif./Irvine) added a pair of RBI and went 2-for-3.
TLU and Austin College play a noon doubleheader Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Sherman.
