SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Nineteenth-ranked Texas Lutheran padded its lead in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 10-0 and 16-5 run-rule victories over the Trinity Tigers on Friday.
At Trinity University, the Bulldogs scored the 10 runs on 10 hits in the first game and scored 16 runs on 16 hits in the second game.
The Bulldogs improved to 15-5 overall and to 9-1 in the SCAC.
Trinity fell to 10-9 overall and to 4-2 in the SCAC.
In game one,
Skylar Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) drove in three, scored two runs, and had a pair of hits.
Cassie Roche (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) and
Haley Padilla (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) each had a pair of RBI.
Kayla Oliveira (San Diego, Texas/San Diego) improved to 5-2 with the three-hit shutout. She worked around four walks and struck out three.
In game two,
Rebecca Snow (Tomball/Klein Oak) drove in a TLU career-best six runs and went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Madisyn Cates (Baytown/Sterling) added four hits and four RBI.
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) and Roche each scored three runs in the late game.
Chassety Raines (Spring/Klein Collins) moved to 2-0 with five innings of work. She struck out six.
TLU and Trinity play games three and four of the conference series on Saturday. First pitch for the early game is set for 1 p.m. in San Antonio.
