Texas Lutheran WBB sweeps regular-season series with Schreiner

KERRVILLE, Texas -- Junior guard Dominique Campos (Laredo/Alexander) hit five three-pointers and scored 23 as the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs swept the regular-season series against the Schreiner Mountaineers with a 75-69 road win Tuesday evening.

The 5-foot-1 Campos tied her career-high in points. She made five of her 10 three-point attempts and seven of her 13 total shots. She also went 4-for-4 from the free throw line and collected four rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.

TLU improved to 9-6 overall and to 5-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Schreiner fell to 1-13 overall and to 1-4 in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs put four players in double figures. Freshman forward Morgan Rodriguez (New Braunfels/Canyon) added 14 points, four rebounds and five assists, and senior guard Bryanna Delgado (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) contributed 12 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Redshirt sophomore guard Tara Molina (San Antonio/Johnson) scored 11, dished out a game-high six assists, and recorded a game-high five steals. Redshirt sophomore post Kasey Hairell (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) pulled down a team-best seven rebounds and scored six.

The Bulldogs made 12 total three-pointers and shot 38.7 percent from the arc. TLU hit eight of 18 threes in the first half.

TLU led for the entire game and held a 15-point advantage in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs went to the line 22 times (12 more than Schreiner) and scored 10 more points than the Mountaineers at the foul line.

In the midst of a five-game road stretch, the Bulldogs continue their conference road work this Saturday with a 4 p.m. tip-off in Sherman, Texas against Austin College.
