SAN ANTONIO, Texas â€" Texas Lutheran opened the Trinity Invitational on Friday with losses to University of Texas Tyler and University of Texas Dallas.
TLU fell 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 to UT Tyler and 25-10, 25-17, 25-17 to UT Dallas, both teams receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll for NCAA Division III.
Against the Patriots, middle blocker
Cailey Young led the Bulldogs with 7 kills.
Remy Corbin and
Kelly Jurden each delivered eight assists, and
Jaci Chambers added 17 digs.
Kacie Hall recorded five kills and
Kelsi Menn put up three blocks for the Bulldogs
Against the Comets, Menn recorded seven kills for TLU. Corbin dished out 10 assists, and Chambers collected 18 digs.
Hall served up the only two aces of the match for TLU to go along with two blocks.
TLU's overall record now stands at 2-3. Â
The Bulldogs continue play against national competition on Saturday with matches against No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Concordia University Texas. The Bulldogs play CMS at 3 p.m. and CTX at 5:15 p.m.
