SHREVEPORT, La. --Â Amy Moreno scored for Centenary College in double overtime and lifted the Ladies to a 4-3 win over Texas Lutheran on Friday evening.
At CE Byrd High School, Centenary broke a 3-3 tie with a goal at the 100:52 mark. The goal was unassisted.
Centenary improved to 3-0 overall and to 1-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
TLU dropped to 1-1-1 overall and to 0-1 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead. With 15:42 elapsed in the match,
Jaclyn Smolik put a shot into the back of the net.
Bailey Nimtz scored the second at 19:51. Both goals were unassisted.Â
Centenary found the back of the net at 30:42 with a goal by Pamela Fonseca. Kyra Montes delivered the assist.
The Ladies tied the match with an unassisted goal at the 51:07 mark by Montes.
Nimtz helped the Bulldogs regain the lead, scoring her second goal of the season, off a free kick on the left sideline
Veronica Dougherty tied the match at 3-3 with a goal at 82:29. The Dougherty goal was assisted by Montes and Olivia Jackson.
The Ladies out-shot the Bulldogs 24-14. Maggie Pitcher and Avery Sanderson each made two saves for Centenary.
Stephanie Barrientos recorded 12 saves for TLU.
TLU returns home for a non-conference match versus McMurry University. The Bulldogs host the War Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Gustafson Field. Match time is set for 2 p.m.Â
