KERRVILLE, Texas --Â The Texas Lutheran Volleyball team dropped a pair of five-game Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contests Friday, losing 3-2 to Austin College and 3-2 to Southwestern University inside Edington Gym on the campus of Schreiner University.Â
The Bulldogs now sit 3-7 (0-2 SCAC) on the year.Â
TLU dropped Friday's first match 25-17, 25-27, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9 to Austin College (6-3, 1-0 SCAC).

One of the big differences in the stat lines was AC's effectiveness at net, recording 11 blocks compared to four for the Bulldogs.

On offense, TLU was held to .087 hitting as a team. The Kangaroos finished with .140 hitting.

Megan Wilke (Seguin/Seguin) dished out 19 assists, and
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) tallied a double-double with 14 assist to go along with 11 digs.
Jaci Chambers (Baytown/Goose Creek Memorial) picked up 34 digs for the Bulldogs. Jennifer Rodriguez (San Antonion/McCullom) added 16 digs.Â
Freshmen outside hitter Savhannah Kitchens (Inez/Industrial) led the squad with nine kills and a serving ace. Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) and Kacie Hall (Buda/Hays) followed with eight and seven kills, respectively.Â
In the second match of the day, the Bulldogs battled, winning the second and fourth sets each by two points. They couldn't keep the momentum going into the fifth set, falling 25-21, 24-26, 25-15, 23-25, 15-6 to the Pirates.
Southwestern runs were what hurt the Bulldogs in that match. A 9-1 run in the first set, multiple three-point runs in the third and an 10-2 run in the fifth were the difference makers.
The Bulldogs finished with .101 hitting against the Pirates (3-4, 2-0 SCAC) while Southwestern hit .196.
Individually, the Bulldogs were led by
Bryten Mitchan (San Antonio/Highlands), who notched 11 kills (.158 hitting) to go along with seven digs and four block assists.

Remy Corbin (Austin/Westwood) led the team in assists with 19. She tallied a double-double against the Pirates with 12 digs. Corbin also added four kills.

Texas Lutheran continue conference play tomorrow in Kerrville, Texas. TLU will take on Centenary College at 2 p.m. and Schreiner University at 5 p.m.
