SEGUIN, Texas --
Twelfth-ranked Texas Lutheran Baseball collected a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon over the University of Dallas.
At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field, TLU won the first game 8-1 and took the second 7-3.
TLU is now 23-6 on the season and 5-3 in conference. Dallas dropped to 9-19 overall and 2-9 in the SCAC.
Senior right-hander
Dylan Drgac (7-1) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Dallas put together three hits and scored the only earned run against Drgac in the sixth.
Drgac finished the game with eight strike outs. He tossed a complete game, scattering four hits and allowing just one walk.
The Bulldogs dished out 14 hits in the early game and 10 in game two.
Austin Colon,
Tyler Cauley,
Eric Rabinowitz and
Taylor Sammons each drove in at least one run in the late game.
Thomas Varner (Austin/Bowie) went a combined 6-for-8 with a run scored and one RBI.
In the 8-1 win in game one, Cauley and Varner each collected three hits and scored for the Bulldogs. Cauley finished the day with four hits, two triples, three runs scored and two RBI.
Freshmen
Cole Irby produced an RBI single to right center to open scoring for the Bulldogs.
Matthew Lemon followed with a two-RBI single to right field giving TLU a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Varner doubled down the center in the fifth to bring in the fourth run. The Crusader's scored their only run in the sixth off a Jessup Scott single to center field.ÂÂ
Andrew Whitten drove in three with a double down the left field line, and Rabinowitz brought in the last run with a double to center field.
In the later game, Dallas opening scoring in the first inning when Mark Peterson hit an RBI single to left field.
TLU scored one in the third and four in the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the seventh.
Dallas answered with two runs in the eighth to cut into the TLU lead.
Nathan Malinovsky tossed eight innings and picked up his seventh win of the year. Malinovsky allowed seven hits. He struck out eight and walked three.
TLU and Dallas continue SCAC play on Sunday with a 1 p.m. contest to finish the three-game series at TLU's Katt-Isbel Field.
