Texas Lutheran ties SCAC, school records for consecutive conference wins

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Softball tied the school and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference records for consecutive conference victories with a 49th consecutive win Saturday. TLU defeated Centenary 6-0 in the first game of the scheduled doubleheader.

The second game of the doubleheader was rained out. The game will not be re-scheduled.

With the victory at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field, TLU improved to 34-1 overall and to 19-0 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs will be the top seed for next weekend's SCAC Championship, hosted by Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.

TLU, ranked second for seven consecutive weeks in the NFCA poll for NCAA Division III, is in search of its fifth consecutive SCAC tournament title and a fifth straight trip to the NCAA Division III tournament.

Centenary dropped to 17-20 overall and to 8-11 in the SCAC with the loss.

TLU took all three games of the conference series from the Ladies. The Bulldogs won 9-3 and 2-0 on Friday in Seguin.

The Bulldogs have won 27 consecutive games in 2018. The only loss of the year to date came on March 4 in a 5-0 loss to No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Virginia Wesleyan.
