SEGUIN, Texas -- Second-ranked Texas Lutheran extended its season win streak to 26 and its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season win streak to 48 games with 9-3 and 2-0 wins Friday evening against Centenary College (La.).
Kassie Maddox (Midland/Greenwood) tossed a three-hit shutout in the late game to move TLU's overall record to 33-1 and its conference mark to 18-0. Maddox moved her overall pitching mark to 4-1 and lowered her ERA to a team-best 0.84.
Centenary fell to 17-19 overall and to 8-10 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs pulled within one victory of tying their own conference and school record for consecutive regular-season conference wins. TLU set the mark at 49 with wins over 2014, 2015 and 2016.
TLU has not lost a conference regular-season game since April 2, 2016.
In the early game Friday ,
Skylar Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) and Maddox each drove in a pair of runs, and
Madisyn Cates (Baytown/Sterling) and
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) each scored a pair of runs.

Kelsie McEachern (Atascocita/Huffman),
Cassie Roche (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) and Maddox each recorded a pair of hits.
In the opener,
Maitlin Raycroft (Spring/Klein) notched her 16th win against zero defeats. She struck out nine, walked one and allowed three hits and two earned runs in five innings of work.
In the late game, TLU scratched across runs in the fourth and fifth against Centenary's Nichole Aldridge. Both TLU runs were unearned.
Maddox struck out seven and walked only one in the 2-0 victory. Jurden and Maddox scored the two Bulldog runs.
The Bulldogs and Ladies return to Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field for a noon doubleheader Saturday, weather permitting.
