IRVING, Texas -- Second-ranked Texas Lutheran opened defense of its four consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a doubleheader sweep Friday night of the University of Dallas.

At Crusader Field, TLU won the first game 9-4 and took the second 8-2.

TLU is now 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs improved to 91-2 all-time in SCAC regular-season play.

Dallas dropped to 1-9 overall and to 0-2 in the SCAC.

Maitlin Raycroft, TLU's senior right-hander, took a no-hitter into the fifth inning. Raycroft has nine career no-hitters for TLU.

Dallas put together two hits in the fifth and scratched across a pair of unearned runs against Raycroft.

Raycroft finished the game with 14 strikeouts. She tossed a complete-game two-hitter.

Kyla Lockley, Kelsie McEachern and Kassie Maddox each drove in two runs in the late game.

In the 9-4 win in game one, freshman Skylar Ouellette and sophomore DeAnna Hernandez each had two hits and two RBI.

McEachern, Madisyn Cates and Cassie Roche each scored a pair of runs and had a pair of hits.

TLU scored three in the first inning and four in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead. 

Dallas answered with three runs in the third and a run in the fourth to cut into the TLU lead.

Jordaine Bishop tossed four innings and picked up her second win of the year. Kelsie Stone finished off the game with three shutout innings. She allowed just one hit.

Bishop improved to 2-0, and Stone notched her first career save.

TLU and Dallas continue SCAC play on Saturday with games three and four of the series. The early game is set for a noon start at Crusader Field on the University of Dallas campus.
