KERRVILLE, Texas -- Second-ranked Texas Lutheran pushed its overall win streak to 20 games by completing a four-game conference sweep of Schreiner University with 9-1 and 7-0 victories in Kerrville, Texas.
TLU improved to 27-1 overall and to 12-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Schreiner fell to 18-11-1 overall and to 9-7 in the SCAC.
TLU senior right-hander
Maitlin Raycroft (Spring/Klein) moved her individual pitching mark to 14-0.
The 9-1 win came in five innings. Raycroft tossed all five and struck out six. She allowed four hits and one run.
Haley Padilla (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) hit her sixth home run of the season and drove in a pair of runs.
Kelsie McEachern (Atascocita/Huffman) and
Skylar Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) also drove in two runs.
Kyla Lockley (Wharton/Boling),
Kelly Jurden (Brenham/Brenham) and Padilla each scored twice.
In game two,
Kelsie Stone (Helotes/O'Connor) went the full seven innings and improved to 4-0 overall. She struck out four, allowed only four hits, and did not walk a batter.
Ouellette drove in a pair of runs, and Lockley, Jurden, Padilla and
DeAnna Hernandez (Sugar Land/Dulles) each recorded RBI.
Cassie Roche (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) had two hits and two runs scored.
The Bulldogs do not play again until April 13 when the team hosts Southwestern University in a home doubleheader.
