SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior right-hander
Maitlin Raycroft (Spring/Klein) tossed her second consecutive no-hitter against the Trinity Tigers in the first game of a doubleheader sweep Saturday at Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field.
TLU won the first game 8-0 in six innings and took the second game 5-0.
Kassie Maddox (Midland/Greenwood) belted a walk-off home run in the sixth inning to conclude the victory in the Raycroft no-hitter.
Raycroft no-hit Trinity on Friday in an 8-0 win in five innings. Saturday's no-hitter was Raycroft's 11th of her Bulldog career and her third this season.
TLU improved to 23-1 overall and to 8-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Trinity fell to 11-13 overall and to 4-8 in the SCAC.
The Bulldogs won all four games of the conference series against the Tigers.
TLU improved to 97-2 all-time in SCAC regular-season play.
TLU, the four-time defending champion of the SCAC, is ranked second in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll for NCAA Division III. The Bulldogs have been No. 2 for three consecutive weeks.
In Saturday's game-one action, Raycroft moved her pitching mark to 12-0 with six strikeouts and two walks.
Kyla Lockley (Wharton/Boling) went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored in the early game. Maddox scored three times and
Skylar Ouellette (Corpus Christi/Gregory-Portland) drove in a pair of runs.
TLU stole five bases in the first game and three in the second.
In the late game,
Haley Padilla (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) hit a two-run home run, her fourth of the season.
Kelsie McEachern (Atascocita/Huffman) drove in a pair of runs, and Lockley had two hits, a run scored and an RBI.
Kelsie Stone (Helotes/O'Connor) went the distance in game two. The sophomore right-hander notched the shutout, striking out two and not walking a batter. She scattered seven hits. Stone moved her record to 3-0.
TLU continues SCAC play this Thursday and Friday with a four-game series at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Game one Thursday begins at 5 p.m., and game one Friday starts at noon.
