SEGUIN, Texas -- Second-ranked Texas Lutheran pushed its win streak to 10 games and its overall record to 17-1 with a doubleheader sweep Thursday night against the University of Texas at Dallas.
At TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium, Morck Softball Field, TLU took the first game 11-2 in five innings and won the second game 2-1.
Bulldog ace
Maitlin Raycroft (Spring/Klein) tossed a complete-game, two-hitter in the late game. She struck out nine and walked five. Raycroft improved to 9-0 with the win.
UT Dallas dropped to 6-9 with the two losses.
The Bulldogs run-ruled the Comets in the early game with three runs in the first, four runs in the second and four runs in the fourth.
UT Dallas made four errors that led to seven unearned runs.
Madisyn Cates went 2-for-3 for TLU and drove in three, and
Skylar Ouellette and
Kyla Lockley each had two each and two RBI.
McKay Bloxham also drove in a pair of runs with two hits. She also scored two runs.
Jordaine Bishop picked up the win to move to 4-0. She allowed two runs and struck out two.
In the late game,
Kelsie McEachern and
Haley Padilla delivered RBI singles.
Kyla Lockley and
Cassie Roche scored the Bulldog runs.
TLU closes out play in the Bulldog Classic with a doubleheader Saturday against La Verne (Calif.). First pitch Saturday is set for noon at TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field.
