GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs will have a shot at a fourth consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship after rallying Friday on the road to defeat Southwestern University 83-80 in overtime.

Nathan Josephs drained a long three-pointer with 1.72 seconds to play in the overtime, and TLU knocked away a full-court pass at the buzzer to set off a Bulldog on-court celebration.
The Bulldogs and Pirates each needed a win Friday to advance to the conference tournament. The winner would advance to the conference tourney. The loser's season would be over.
TLU advances to the SCAC Tournament, to be played next Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Bulldogs will need three wins to claim a fourth conference crown. TLU won three games a year ago to capture its third straight title. The Bulldogs were the three seed in the 2017 tournament.
Friday against Southwestern, the Bulldogs trailed by 15 with 17:10 to play in the game. TLU's comeback started with back-to-back three-pointers - from
Jacob Kouremetis and
Shawn Hamilton. TLU had the lead down to six with 7:56 remaining after an
Alex Cage layup.
A
Nathan Josephs three-point play and a Kouremetis three-pointer pulled TLU within two with 7:27 to play. Hamilton's layup at the six-minute mark brought TLU even with the Pirates, at 63-63.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the second half, at 69-67, on a Kouremetis three-pointer with 4:15 to play.
Another Kouremetis three gave TLU a three-point lead, at 72-69, with 2:40 remaining. Southwestern's Luke Hicks forced overtime with eights seconds to play in regulation with a three-pointer.
In the overtime, TLU jumped out to a five-point lead with two free throws from Josephs and another three from Kouremetis.
Southwestern's Ryan Wheeler tied the game with 31 seconds to play, setting up Josephs last-second heroics for TLU.
Kouremetis scored 19 points, hitting six three-pointers, in the second half. He finished with a career-high 29.
Josephs scored 30 and had eight of TLU's 11 points in the overtime. He had two three-pointers in the extra session.
Josephs went to the line 20 times and made 15 free throws. He added five assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Hamilton chipped in seven rebounds, five points, two blocks and two steals.
