SHREVEPORT, La. -- Texas Lutheran erased a two-point halftime deficit, charged to a 28-13 advantage in the third quarter, and registered a 76-57 road victory over the Centenary College (La.) Ladies.
Sunday afternoon in Centenary's Gold Dome, TLU improved to 8-5 overall and to 4-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs have won four straight.
Centenary fell to 3-9 overall and to 1-3 in the SCAC.
Freshman forward
Morgan Rodriguez (New Braunfels/Canyon) scored 11 of her game-high 16 points in the second half. Rodriguez added four steals, three rebounds and three assists. She made three three-pointers.
Sophomore post
Abby Hroch (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) added 15 points and had 10 in the second half. Hroch made seven of her 13 field goal attempts, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals.
Sophomore guard
Olivia Balderas (San Antonio/Incarnate Word High School) chipped in 11 points and dished out four assists.
TLU recovered from a poor shooting first half (31 percent) to shoot 53 percent in the second half. The Bulldogs hit four of their nine three-point attempts in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Bulldogs were efficient at the free throw line, going 15-for-18 (83.3 percent).ÂÂ
TLU took advantage of 29 Centenary turnovers and scored 27 points off those miscues.
The Bulldogs continue SCAC play on Saturday, Jan. 5 with a 5:30 p.m. road conference game at Trinity University in San Antonio.
