SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball cruised to a 74-40 win over the Johnson & Wales (Colo.) Wildcats in the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory of the year for the Bulldogs.
In Memorial Gymnasium (Jim Shuler Court), TLU moved to 5-5 overall and to 1-0 in the SCAC. Johnson & Wales dropped to 0-7 overall and to 0-2 in the SCAC.

Abby Hroch (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) scored 12 points in 12 minutes of action. She hit six of her eight shot attempts and grabbed four rebounds.
Jayla Santa Maria (Edinburg/Edinburg) came off the TLU bench to score 13 points in 12 minutes. She made five of her eight shot attempts.
TLU held the Wildcats to 20.8 percent shooting from the field and to 23.3 percent from the three-point line.
The Bulldogs played all 19 players in uniform.
TLU opened up a 26-10 lead at the end of the first quarter by shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and 4-of-8 from the arc in those first 10 minutes.
TLU led 45-18 at the half.
Brianna Bailey led JWU with 21 points and seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs turn around and play a second straight game in the SCAC. TLU hosts Colorado College at 4 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Gymnasium (Jim Shuler Court).
