Bulldogs stumble in home conference loss to University of Dallas, 69-64

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's two-game win streak in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference came to an end Friday night in a 69-64 home loss to the University of Dallas.

Fighting for a conference tournament spot with TLU, Dallas stopped its three-game slide in the conference with the key road win.

The Crusaders improved to 10-8 overall and to 4-4 in the SCAC. TLU fell to 7-11 overall and to 3-4 in the SCAC.

The Bulldogs and Crusaders came into the night in fifth and sixth, respectively, in the SCAC standings. The top six of the eight conference teams advance to the SCAC Men's Basketball Championship. TLU is the three-time defending conference champion.

In the victory at TLU's Memorial Gymnasium, Dallas freshman forward Spencer Levi scored 21 and pulled down 16 rebounds. Levi went 5-for-8 from the field and 11-for-15 from the foul line. Levi also blocked three shots.

Levi's teammate, Darrius Colvin, added 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Nathan Josephs led TLU with 16 points and five assists. Jacob Kouremetis contributed 15 points, three assists, three rebounds and three steals.

Kouremetis connected on three three-pointers on eight attempts from long rance. TLU overall from the three-point line was just 6-for-23.

The Bulldogs shot 36.5 percent overall for the game. Dallas, meanwhile, shot 46.8 percent for the game.

TLU must turn around Saturday and face Colorado College in another key conference match-up. The Bulldogs and Tigers tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in TLU's Memorial Gymnasium (Jim Shuler Court).
