COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Freshman shooting guard
Sebastian Andrade nailed a jump-shot with nine seconds remaining in the game to lift the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 74-72 road win Sunday over Colorado College.
At CC's Reid Arena, Andrade's jumper gave TLU a one-point lead, 73-72. TLU's
Shawn Hamilton stole a pass with four seconds to play to send the Bulldogs to the free throw line.
Nathan Josephs went 1-for-2 at the line. The second free throw missed but resulted only in a long half-court heave from the Tigers that missed the mark at the buzzer.
TLU won its second straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game overall and its third consecutive conference road game this year.
The Bulldogs improved to 7-10 overall and to 3-3 in the SCAC.
Colorado College fell to 7-11 overall and to 2-5 in the SCAC.
Andrade finished the game with 20 points off the Bulldog bench. The freshman hit four of his five three-point attempts and went 7-for-10 overall from the field. He also added four rebounds.
Josephs,
Alex Cage and Hamilton also made it into double figures. Josephs had 13 points and four assists. Cage recorded 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Hamilton registered 12 points, four rebounds and a steal.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 in the first half. The TLU lead dropped to 43-36 at the break. The final five minutes had three lead changes.
TLU shot 50 percent (27-for-54) for the game and went 11-for-27 (40.7 percent) from the three-point line.
The Tigers also shot 50 percent from the field (25-for-50) but made only three three-pointers. Colorado College did go 19-for-24 at the free throw line.
TLU returns home to Seguin for next weekend's two SCAC contests - against University of Dallas at 5:30 p.m. Friday and against Colorado College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
