GEORGETOWN, Texas-- Texas Lutheran opened Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 road win Friday afternoon against Schreiner University at the Group A Divisional in Georgetown, Texas.Â
The Bulldogs were led in kills by
Bryten Mitchan and
Hannah Mikelonis, each tallying 12, respectively.
Cailey Young contributed seven.
As a team, TLU hit .406, .312, and a .333 in games one, two and three, ranking up a total of 43 kills overall. The Bulldogs shut down Schreiner offense making nine total blocks during the match.Â
Defensive specialists
Jaci Chambers and
Mathis Popelsky handled to back half of the court picking up eight and nine digs, respectively. Chambers and Popelsky also tallied two serving aces each for the Bulldogs.Â
SCAC play continues tomorrow for the squad as day two of the Group A Divisional tournament continues. TLU plays two matches tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. against nationally ranked Trinity University and Southwestern University.Â
