SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran ace
Maitlin Raycroft worked out of jams in the first, second and third innings - stranding seven Schreiner base-runners in the process - before she and the Bulldogs hit their stride in a 6-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory Friday.
At TLU's Ed Kruse Stadium - Morck Softball Field, Raycroft put up five scoreless innings before giving way to
Amanda Lochte, who tossed the final two shutout frames.
The Bulldogs broke through with a run in the third and then three in the fourth and five in the fifth.
In the fifth,
Courtney Mica hit a two run single, and
Kaymee Gooden belted an RBI triple.
Kyla Lockley,
Madisyn Cates, and
Nicole Snow also recorded RBI.
Raycroft improved to 19-2 overall, and TLU pushed its school-record win streak to 35 games.
The victory was
Wade Wilson's 200th as the Bulldogs' head coach.
The Bulldogs are 35-4 overall after an 0-4 start to the year.
TLU now faces Southwestern University, a 9-3 winner over Trinity, in the SCAC semifinal matchup. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Ed Kruse Stadium.
