ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran fell 4-3 to Hardin-Simmons in a non-conference contest Thursday night at HSU's Hunter Field.
Zack de Luna delivered a two-out infield single in the bottom of the ninth to score Jace Langen from third.
HSU moved its overall record to 14-17. TLU dropped to 20-13.
TLU took the early lead with home run in the second from freshman first baseman
Tyler Cauley.
HSU regained the lead with two runs in the second with a home run from Cade Johnson and an RBI double from Elijah Perez.
The lead went back to TLU in the third with a
Matthew Lemon RBI groundout and a
Riley Schaefer single.
de Luna tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single in the seventh.
Nathan Malinovsky started for TLU and went 7.0 innings. He allowed nine hits and struck out eight. He walked one and allowed three earned runs.
Ethan Mueller (0-2) took the loss. Kyle Johnson (1-1) picked up the win for HSU.
HSU pitching limited TLU to four hits. The Bulldogs walked nine times and were hit by a pitch once.
Thomas Varner walked three times, and Lemon had a pair of walks.
TLU and HSU play a Friday doubleheader at Hunter Field. Game one begins at 1 p.m.
