ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons completed a three-game sweep of Texas Lutheran with 4-3 and 14-12 wins Friday at HSU's Hunter Field.
TLU lost the three road games by a combined four runs. The Bulldogs fell to HSU 4-3 on Thursday night.
HSU rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the early game Friday. The Cowboys hit a pair of solo homers (in the second and the fourth) and a two-run shot in the sixth to edge the Bulldogs in the seven-inning contest.
In the late game, HSU came back from an early 7-0 deficit. TLU scored seven in the second inning, but HSU charged back with three runs in the second, three in the third and eight in the fourth.
In game two, TLU scored three in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate, but the rally ended with a final strikeout.
For the Bulldogs,
Tyler Cauley hit a two-run home run in the early game, and
Rayce Gatlin added a two-run homer in the second contest.
TLU dropped to 20-15 overall with the two losses. HSU improved to 16-17 overall.
