SHREVEPORT, La. -- Texas Lutheran Softball pushed its win streak to 26 games by completing a four-game sweep of conference foe Centenary College (La.) with 3-0 and 14-1 road victories Saturday.
TLU improved to 26-4 overall and to 14-0 in the SCAC.
Centenary dropped to 10-16 overall and to 7-5 in the SCAC.
In the early game, TLU junior right-hander
Maitlin Raycroft (Spring/Klein) tossed her second one-hit shutout of 2017 to go along with her six no-hitters of the season.
Raycroft struck out 11 and allowed only a two-out single in the fifth. The single also broke up a perfect game. Raycroft retired the first 14 batters she faced. She struck out the first nine Centenary batters.
Raycroft improved to 14-2 overall. She was the winning pitcher in each of the first three games of the TLU-Centenary series.
TLU broke open a 0-0 tie with three runs in the seventh.
Nicole Snow started the rally with double to center. After a
Brayden Pinckard single,
Alyssa Cantu singled home Snow.
Pinch-hitter
DeAnna Hernandez drove in the second run with a ground ball to second. Cantu then scored on a throwing error.
In the late game,
Kaymee Gooden hit a pair of two-run home runs, one in the second and one in the sixth.
TLU scored five in the first and two more in the second. The Bulldogs put up seven runs in the sixth. The second game ended after the bottom of the sixth due to the run rule.
Gooden went 2-for-5 and drove in four.
Kyla Lockley scored three times, had two hits and drove in two.
Lockley homered to start the game.
Brayden Pinckard hit a two-run triple in the first and had an RBI groundout in the sixth.
Senior right-hander
Amanda Lochte pitched five innings and moved her overall record to 10-1. She struck out three and allowed four hits and one earned run.
