SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball scored 14 runs and hammered out 16 hits in a 14-1 non-conference win Wednesday night against Blackburn College (Ill.).
At TLU's Katt-Isbel Field,
Matthew Lemon (Caldwell/Caldwell) homered and then doubled twice. He finished the night 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
Thomas Varner (Austin/Bowie) and
Rayce Gatlin (Orange Grove/Orange Grove) each drove in four runs. Varner went 3-for-3 with a double, and Gatlin hit a bases-loaded triple and went 2-for-2.
Taylor Sammons (Houston/Clear Creek) also doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
With a key conference series against Trinity scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, TLU used one pitcher each inning.
Keaton Boysen (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) picked up the win to improve to 1-0.
Ethan Mueller (Converse/Judson) struck out the side in the ninth.
TLU improved to 11-7 overall. Blackburn dropped to 1-6.
