SEGUIN, Texas -- Concordia Texas handed No. 21 Texas Lutheran a 7-1 loss Friday night at Katt-Isbel and spoiled the Bulldogs' season and home-opener.

Concordia (1-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead through three innings and never let TLU back in the game.

The Tornados scored their two runs in the first without a hit off of TLU ace Nathan Malinovsky, who walked two and threw two wild pitches in the inning.

Malinovsky, a preseason All-American, took the loss for TLU.

Justin Traxler went six innings for Concordia and notched the win. Traxler struck out five, walked two, and allowed just three hits.

Kylen Harrell tossed the final three innings to pick up the save.

Bret Lieferman homered, scored twice and drove in two for Concordia.

Keaton Boysen went 3-for-4 with two doubles for TLU. Boysen scored TLU's lone run on a Matthew Lemon sacrifice fly.

TLU and Concordia play a doubleheader Saturday in Austin at Tornado Field. First pitch for game one is set for 2 p.m.
