KERRVILLE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Basketball shook off a nine-point halftime deficit and used a 23-8 advantage in the third quarter to hold off the Schreiner Mountaineers 71-63 Friday night at the Stephens Family Arena.
TLU senior forward
Kristen Lye tallied another double-double, her 11th of the season, with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Lye made 10 of her 16 shot attempts, including her lone three-point shot, and collected five offensive rebounds.
Bailey Champion,
Cierra Jordan and
Caitlin Rendon chipped in 11, 10 and 10, respectively, and
Savannah Hight added eight.
Champion dished out three assists and collected five rebounds, and reserve
Madison Ray led the team in assists with four to go along with her four points and three rebounds.
TLU hit 56.67 percent of its total shots and made three three-pointers in the second half.
The Bulldogs held Schreiner to 31.25 percent in the second half.
TLU improved to 17-4 overall and to 9-1 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs still hold a half-game lead over Top 25 Trinity. The Bulldogs and Tigers face each other at 4 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio.
Schreiner dropped to 8-12 overall and to 6-3 in the SCAC.
