ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran sophomore Nathan Malinovsky tossed a complete game and struck out 11 Friday night as the Bulldogs defeated McMurry University 4-2 at Walt Driggers Field.

Malinovsky (1-2) allowed two runs in the sixth, but both runs were unearned. He walked just one.

The Bulldogs rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth. Thomas Varner walked with the bases loaded to bring in the tying run, and pinch-hitter Tyler Cauley drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single.

Varner, the sophomore shortstop, had two hits for TLU.

McMurry had the winning run at the plate in the ninth, but Malinovsky struck out a War Hawk for the second out and coaxed the final batter into a fly-out to center field.

TLU improved to 5-5 overall. McMurry dropped to 3-5.

The Bulldogs and War Hawks play a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m., at McMurry's Driggers Field.
