SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's eight women's basketball seniors all contributed as the Bulldogs handled Southwestern 71-51 Friday night to secure the team's 20th win of the year.

On TLU's Jim Shuler Court in Memorial Gymnasium, TLU moved to 20-5 overall and to 12-2 in the SCAC with the win.
The Bulldogs remain a half-game behind Trinity for the SCAC regular-season title race and for the right to the top seed in the upcoming SCAC Tournament. Trinity can secure the top seed and the SCAC regular-season crown with a home win Saturday over Schreiner.

The Bulldogs, already assured of at least the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament, were determined not to let Senior Night end with a loss. The Bulldogs opened a 32-11 lead at the end of the third quarter and never looked back.

TLU led 45-22 at the break and by as many as 26 in the fourth quarter.

Kristen Lye led the Bulldogs with 18 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes of action. She hit seven of her 13 shots.

Cierra Jordan chipped in 11 points, four steals and two rebounds. Senior forward
Savannah Hight dished out five assists, scored six and had four rebounds and two steals.

Bailey Champion scored eight and added two steals and two assists.

TLU held Southwestern to 29.4 percent shooting in the first quarter and to 35.6 percent for the game.

TLU's next games will be in the SCAC Tournament, hosted by Southwestern next weekend. TLU will have a bye into the SCAC semifinal.
