GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- At the Rusty Greer/Jackie Moore Classic, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs came out on the short end of a 12-11 slugfest with the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys.

At AirHogs Stadium, HSU catcher Zack de Luna hit for the cycle and belted the game-winning RBI triple with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

de Luna doubled in the first, walked and scored in the third, hit a solo homer in the fifth, singled and scored in the sixth, and then tripled in the ninth. TLU pitching retired him once, with a pop-up to third base in the seventh.

de Luna finished the day 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI.

TLU trailed early 3-0 but rallied to take a 6-3 lead with a five-run fifth. Colby Schrade belted a three-run home run in the frame.

HSU re-took the lead with eight unanswered runs - three in the fifth and five more in the sixth - to post an 11-6 advantage entering the seventh.

The Bulldogs fought back again and tied the game with three runs in the seventh and two runs in the eighth.

In the TLU seventh, Schrade doubled and drove in a run, and Keaton Boysen hit a two-run double.

In the Bulldog eighth, Rayce Gatlin collected an RBI double, and Schrade tallied an RBI single.

The Bulldogs' top four hitters in the lineup - Riley Schaefer, Gatlin, Schrade and Boysen - accounted for all 11 TLU RBI.

Schaefer went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Gatlin was 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks.

Schrade had three hits in five at-bats, scored three runs and drove in five. Boysen recorded two hits (both doubles) and drove in three.

Drew Waller (0-1) took the loss for TLU. Blake Northrop (1-0) picked up the win.

HSU improved to 1-0 overall. TLU dropped to 2-2.

The Bulldogs play again in the Rusty Greer/Jackie Moore Classic on Saturday and Sunday at AirHogs Stadium. TLU faces Hendrix College (Ark.) at 2 p.m. Saturday and University of Texas at Dallas at 1 p.m. Sunday. Links to live stats for both games can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
