KERRVILLE, Texas -- East Texas Baptist notched an 80-55 non-conference win over Texas Lutheran, Saturday at the Schreiner University SCAC/ASC Classic.
At Schreiner's Stephens Family Arena, the Tigers held TLU to 33.9 percent shooting for the game and to 12.5 percent shooting from the three-point line.
TLU, out of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, fell to 4-7 overall. ETBU, from the American Southwest Conference, improved to 9-1 overall.
The Bulldogs went 1-1 at the SCAC/ASC Classic. TLU defeated LeTourneau on Friday afternoon in Kerrville.
Kim Childress scored 18 points and had four rebounds and two steals to lead the Tigers.
Karley McHenry and Sydney Saxton added 15 and 10 points, respectively.
ETBU out-rebounded TLU 52-40. The Tigers had a 26-14 edge in offensive rebounds.
Presley Stephens led TLU with 17 points, nine rebounds and five blocks.
Cami Davis added 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Katie Pesek chipped in 11 points and three rebounds for the Bulldogs. Pesek made four of her five shot attempts.
The Bulldogs hit the road on Jan. 5 and Jan. 7 for their first two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games of the season. In Shreveport, La., the Bulldogs face Centenary College (La.) at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 5. In Sherman, Texas on Jan. 7, the Bulldogs face Austin College at 2 p.m.
