SEGUIN, Texas -- Junior point guard
Nathan Josephs (San Antonio/Clark/Texas State) scored 22 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lift the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs to a 67-63 home win Saturday over McMurry University.
Joseph scored the Bulldogs' last 11 points. He hit three three-pointers and made 13-of-14 free throws in the second half.
TLU won its second straight and improved to 2-2 overall.
McMurry fell to 0-2.
With TLU clinging to a one-point lead with 1:04 to play, Josephs drained a three-pointer off a feed from
Alex Cage (Austin/McNeil). With McMurry fouling to stop the clock, Josephs went 8-for-8 at the line in the closing 42 seconds.
Cage and
Sebastian Andrade (El Paso/Americas) each scored 13 for TLU.
Matthew Gillette (Spring/Klein) chipped in six points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
TLU out-rebounded McMurry 37-32 and overcame 23 turnovers.
The Bulldogs held a 25-0 edge in free throws made.
LaRandall Scoggins paced the War Hawks with 14 points and nine rebounds.
TLU's next game is a Tuesday road contest at the University of Texas at Tyler. Tip-off in UT Tyler's Herrington Patriot Center is set for 7 p.m.
