TYLER, Texas -- The University of Texas at Tyler out-scored Texas Lutheran 53-29 in the second half to register an 84-65 non-conference win Tuesday night at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center.
UT Tyler moved its record to 4-0 and swept the season series with Texas Lutheran. The Bulldogs fell to 2-3.
The game was tied at 54 with 10:43 to play. The Patriots went on a 30-6 run over the next nine minutes of action.
TLU shot just 29.4 percent in the second half after shooting 48.5 percent in the first half.
Melvin Anthony led UT Tyler with 23 points. He made five of his six three-point attempts.
Emeka Obukwelu added 19 points, and Josh Tatum chipped in 18. Skyler Hadden scored 16.
Nathan Josephs paced the Bulldogs with 20 points.
Alex Cage and
Matthew Gillette registered 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Josephs added six rebounds and three assists. Gillette collected five rebounds and also had three assists.
TLU's next two contests on the schedule are exhibition road games against NCAA Division I opponents Texas A&M Corpus Christi (7 p.m. Friday in Corpus Christi) and Incarnate Word (7 p.m. Tuesday in San Antonio).
