SEGUIN, Texas -- Freshman forward Abby Hroch (Port Lavaca/Calhoun) scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds in her Memorial Gymnasium debut as Texas Lutheran defeated Sul Ross State 74-57 Saturday in non-conference action.

TLU evened its record at 1-1 with the victory in the home-opener. Sul Ross dropped to 0-1.

Hroch hit six of her 10 shots and nine of her 12 free throw attempts. She also added two steals.

With Hroch in the post, TLU produced a 30-18 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Bulldogs also put Sul Ross State into foul trouble for most of the afternoon. TLU went to the line 30 times and made 23 free throws.

Sul Ross shot just 15.8 percent in the first quarter and fell behind 17-8. TLU led 39-18 at the half. Hroch had 13 of her 21 in the first half.

Cami Davis (Marion/Marion/UT Tyler) and Kasey Hairell also hit double figures in scoring for TLU. Davis, coming off a 30-point performance in the season-opening road game at Mary Hardin-Baylor, scored 12 and collected four steals against the Lobos. Hairell chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.

TLU point guard Tara Molina (San Antonio/Johnson) scored nine, had five rebounds and grabbed five steals.

TLU out-rebounded Sul Ross 45-36 and finished with an overall shooting percentage of .469. Sul Ross ended the game at .288 from the field and .188 from the three-point line (6-for-32).

Angalyn Latin led Sul Ross with 25 points, nine rebounds and six steals.
