SEGUIN, Texas -- Forward starter Raquel Morris (San Antonio/ Johnson) opened up scoring for Texas Lutheran in the 3rd minute of play Sunday afternoon at Gustafson Field in conference play against Austin College. The goal was assisted by Bailey Nimtz (New Braunfels, Canyon).

The Bulldogs move to 5-6-1 for an overall mark, and 5-2-1 in SCAC play. TLU is currently tied for second in conference with Schreiner, each team holds 16 pts.

Shots a plenty for the Bulldogs in the remaining 42 minutes of the 1st half, but Maya Erwin for the AC allowed no more goals. Erwin tallied 10 saves, making it 1-0 TLU going into the half.

Jaclyn Smolik (Katy/ Katy) scored both goals for TLU in the second half. First goal was scored at 60:25 off the corner kick from Nimtz, and the second at 77:27 with assist from Bryn Schleyer (Kingwood/ Kingwood Park).

TLU posted 30 total shots to AC's 4, and registered 12 corner kicks for the match. Goal keeper Stephanie Barrientos (Mission/ Sharyland Pioneer) made two saves from the only two shots on goal from the Kangaroos.

Women's soccer heads to San Antonio, Texas to face Trinity University in SCAC play Friday evening. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at McGinlay Field.
