SEGUIN, Texas -- The Bulldogs defeated the Moravian Greyhounds (Bethleham, PA.) in a three set non-conference shutout (25-21, 25-13, 25-19) Friday evening at Susan Duke Court. TLU improves 12-8 overall on the year.
The Bulldogs limited errors on the net, tallying only 11 hitting errors for the match. As a unit, TLU hit over .300 in all three sets (.368, .385, and .324). Ending with an overall percentage of .356 for the match to the Greyhounds' .111.ÂÂ
Sophomore outside hitter
Makenzie Griffin (Jourdanton, Texas) notched a career-high .536 hitting percentage. Griffin, a second-year Bulldog, finished the match with 16 kills on 28 attempts with just one error.ÂÂ
Hannah Mikelonis (Spring, Texas) tallied 13 kills and four digs for the Bulldogs. And
Cailey Young (New Braunfels, Texas) added seven kills on eight attempts with no errors for an impressive .875.ÂÂ
Kelly Jurden (Brenham, Texas) paced the Bulldogs as she dished out 16 assists.
Kionasina Nu'u (New Braunfels, Texas) and
Remy Corbin (Austin, Texas) accounted for 14 and 13 assists for TLU, respectively.ÂÂ
Jurden also led the Bulldogs in digs with nine.
Mathis Popelsky (Cypress, Texas) followed closely with eight digs, and Griffin added seven.
TLU Volleyball hosts their Alumni match tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at Susan Duke Court for Homecoming weekend.
SCAC play continues on next weekend in San Antonio, Texas as Trinity University hosts the Group A Divisional Tournament. TLU is set to play Friday at 6 p.m. against #3 Trinity University and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. versus Schreiner University and #5 Southwestern University.
